The Guild at Maltings Move-in
When: 6th September, 10am-3pm

We wouldn’t miss welcoming you to Halls for the world!
Come by the Guild Stall and say hi, and have a chat with us about Freshers Wristbands, clubs and societies, student voice, and more.
We’ll be joined by our friends from Naughty Horse, Popworld, Rosies, and Barbara’s Birmingham, ready to get you buzzing for your first weeks here with music and good vibes.


Welcome Social
When: 11th September, from 4pm
Where: The Hideaway, Maltings
Type: Drop-in; Free
Join us at the Hideaway for a casual get-together with your new neighbours, classmates, and fellow Freshers. The perfect event to make new friends and get to know people in a relaxed setting.
We’ll bring our donations from last year’s residents, so feel free to check in at our Donation Station and take what you need.

Birmingham City Walking Tour
When: 15th September, 4pm
Where: Meeting point in front of McIntyre House
Type: Scheduled; Free
New to Brum? Let our Sabbs (elected Student Officers) give you a tour of the area! They’ll meet you in front of McIntyre House at 4pm and show you around the Jewellery Quarter, all of our UCB buildings in central Birmingham, and the best route to the Maltings from campus.
IKEA-Trip (Ticket Purchase Required)
When: 16th September, 12-5pm
Where: From Maltings Car Park
Type: Scheduled; Ticket required
Looking to deck out your room with some décor, add a few essentials to your kitchen cabinets, and grab some Swedish meat balls in the process? Book your ticket and tag along on our coach for an afternoon of shopping at IKEA, where a complimentary gift bag will be waiting for you!


International Social
When: 18th September, from 4pm
Where: The Hideaway, Maltings
Type: Drop-in; Free
Join us for our International Social at the Hideaway: We wanted to create a space especially for our international students to meet and get to know each other. Moving to a new country is a lot, and you’re not alone in this, so be sure to drop by and mingle!
We’ll bring our donations from last year’s residents, so feel free to check in at our Donation Station and take what you need.
Movie Night
When: 23rd September, 5.30pm

Our Movie Night is perfect for everyone looking for a cosy night amidst their wild social calendar during Freshers. Grab your housemates and join us at the Hideaway – choice of film will be democratically decided by you!


Welcome Fest
When: 25rd September, 9.30am-3pm
Where: Moss House
Type: Drop-in; Free
To celebrate your arrival at University College Birmingham, we’re putting on a massive Welcome Fest (aka Freshers Fair) in Moss House – the whole building will be buzzing with the Guild Team, clubs and societies, University departments, local businesses and more. There’ll be games, there’ll be music, there’ll be freebies; we can’t wait!
If you prefer a calmer environment, consider dropping by during our quiet hour: In the first hour (9.30-10.30am), we won’t have any music on, and it will be way less busy as well.
Birmingham Museum
When: 26th September, 12pm
Where: From Moss House, Guild Office
Type: Drop-in; Free
Calling all art lovers: Come along for a relaxed excursion to the Birmingham Museum. We’ll meet at 12pm in front of the Guild Office (Moss House, Ground Floor) and walk there together. Entry to the museum is free, and everyone is welcome to enjoy the exhibition at their own pace.


Guild Fun Fair
When: 29th September, 11am-2pm
Where: Moss House, Ground Floor
Type: Drop-in; Free
One last fun-filled HURRAH in September to celebrate your arrival! We’ll celebrate the end of our Welcome Month with the Guild Fun Fair, complete with a rodeo bull, hook-a-duck, popcorn, candy floss, polaroids, temporary tattoos and more. Come by any time between 11am and 2pm, meet our Sabbatical Officers, and have a whale of a time with us!
