Working With Us

We’re proud to be a close-knit team, working throughout the year to change the lives of students at UCB. All of our staff work with the same ambitious goal: building an inclusive, open, vibrant community here at UCB to give students great opportunities.

Staff Roles Available

We work with a small but dynamic team of individuals at the Guild. All staff are eligible for a range of perks including:

  • Enhanced sick leave
  • A matched pension scheme worth 10%-12% of eligible earnings
  • An employee assistance programme
  • Tailor-made personal development packages

There are currently no staff roles available. We’ll update this page when any vacancies come up.

Advisory Roles

Independent Member of the Finance Subcommittee (Voluntary)

As the Guild has grown in the past few years, our risk management, financial controls, and body of policies and procedures have also matured. Following the scheduled departure of two trustees earlier this year, the Guild’s Finance Subcommittee is seeking to welcome an independent member with relevant skills to attend meetings and advise on financial matters to help us make good decisions effectively.

This voluntary role supports trustees and staff by providing independent insight, constructive scrutiny, and professional expertise on financial planning, budgeting, risk, and long-term sustainability. As a guest to Finance Subcommittee meetings, you will review financial information, contribute to discussions, and help ensure resources are used effectively to maximise our charitable impact for students.

  • Access and Participation Assistants (University only)

The roles above are paid and, where possible, we will work with UCB to recognise time spent as placement hours – this will depend on your course.

Our paid roles include:

  • Guaranteed minimum hour contracts
  • Flexibility around your timetable
  • Real Living Wage pay (currently £12.60) plus holiday pay

Student Trustees (Voluntary)

Would you like to gain Board-level experience and shape the strategic direction of the Guild of Students?

We are currently seeking to recruit Student Trustees from across UCB. As a Trustee, you would be jointly-responsible for ensuring that the Guild is meeting its commitments to students effectively, and that the organisation is developing in a sustainable way. With this opportunity, you can also gain specialised experience in: HR, Finance, or Communications.

To qualify, you must be a current student (preferably with more than a year remaining on your course) and meet the requirements of the Charity Commission. For further info, or to express your interest please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help!

Please note: you must be a UCB student to apply to the student roles above.
