Campaign Inspiration

Social Media Videos:

We have some examples from other Elections at other SU’s and Political campaigns (and a video from our director’s and student voice co-ordinator’s Officer campaigns!)

TikTok & Instagram reels:

you can post informative videos about your manifesto, or hop onto current viral trends or audios to benefit from the algorithm pushing your videos out to more people!

Tip: consider bulk filming in advance and saving to your drafts so you can post more consistently whilst campaigning.

Jay – 2022 UCB Guild Elections (now your Student Voice Co-ordinator)

an example of using a trend as a way to introduce who you are, your skills or experiences, or points about your manifesto

Jess – 2023 Uni of Nottingham SU Elections

an example of a more informative short-form video

Long Form Campaign videos:

This fits more with traditional campaign videos that you would see a politician or charity make – they are a great way to show you mean business! however some students may not sit and watch the whole thing!

Tip: If you can, try to get your NAME, the POSITION you’re running for, and a “CALL TO ACTION” aka. what you want someone to do (vote for you!) in the first 10 or so seconds of the video!

Alex Harden – 2018 Surry Students’ Union Elections (now better known as Dr Alex Harden-Way the Director of UCB Guild!)

This is a great example of longform informative content, about who you are, and what you stand for!

Zohran Mamdani – 2025 NYC Mayoral Elections

Mamdani’s social media campaign to be Mayor of New York City took the world by storm – this is a great example that videos about the things voters care about can still be light hearted and fun!
